SIDS Two Days After Well Baby Shots

Shared by her mother, Jenny Dougall, in her own words:

“My name is Jenny Dougall. I live in British Columbia, Canada.

On April 20th, 2010 our beautiful baby girl was born, Elliauna Alexandra Dougall. Our appointment for her vaccines was made and booked for us in advance. The day was approaching, but I was having a bad feeling, so we made an appointment a few days before just to ask questions about the vaccines and risks and what not.

The public health nurse printed us a few pieces of paper to read over, told us they were totally safe, vaccine injuries only happen 1 in one million. That was it, we left after that.

So June 24th came her appointment was booked for 10:30am. She got 3 needles that day, one in one leg, and 2 in the other leg: Infanrix-hexa [which is combined diphtheria, tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis, hepatitis b, inactivated poliomyelitis, adsorbed conjugated haemophilus influenzae], and pneumococcal conjugate, and meningococcal C conjugate.

I had never heard her scream like that before, like I did that day when they gave her those shots. I had to hold her down while they administered them. They made us wait after for 15 minutes in case of an anaphylaxis reaction. After that they have us a tiny piece of paper of things to look out for incase of a bad reaction and we were sent on our way. The rest of that day she was just really sleepy and kept waking with little crying fits.

Friday the 25th, the next day, her eyes were really bugging her and she was trying to scratch at them. She was really sleepy all day and by evening her eyes were red and swollen, she was experiencing some of those things listed on that tiny piece of paper they gave us before we left, so we decided to take her into emergency, so they could look her over.  They looked in her eyes, lifted her arms, did a quick look over and told us that she just fine. This is normal after immunizations, and we were sent home.

Saturday the 26th, nothing had changed, her eyes were still bugging her, she was still sleepy and irritable, but they said this is normal, so we carried on with our day normally. By evening her eyes were really red and swollen and bugging her, I could tell she was really uncomfortable and something wasn’t right with her. I know my baby and this is not the happy little girl we were used to. So we decided to take her back into the emergency room and have them take another look just incase, because something was not right with her.

There was a young Dr there that I had seen throughout my pregnancy. He took a look at her, but was unsure and wanted a second opinion so he went and got a senior Dr to take a look at her. He looked in her eyes, lifted her arms and said not to worry she was just fine, that this is normal after immunizations, and he sent us home. So we went home and did our regular routine, bath, snuggles, feeding then bed.

Sunday June 27th at 5:20am, I’m woken up by my husband shaking my arm. I open my eyes and he’s standing there with our daughter in his arms. I could see her little limbs dangling. He said “hunny, hunny somethings wrong with her, she’s not waking up!” I said “bring her to the bathroom and put her foot under cold water,” see if that works, maybe she’s in a really deep sleep.

So we rushed to the bathroom and turned on the light, we didn’t need to put her foot under the water. As soon as we turned on the lights and looked at her the panic set in.

She had discoloration, she had purple blotches all over her body. At the time we lived right across the street from the hospital. My husband wrapped her in a blanket and ran bare foot to the hospital, with me right behind them. When we got there they got to work on her right away with CPR.

The two doctors that seen her just hours before were still there. They tried to revive her for 30 minutes nonstop chest compressions and oxygen, but it was too late. She had already been gone for at least 4 hours before my husband woke to her like that.

We stayed in the quiet room with her for hours in the hospital holding her and saying our goodbye. Her autopsy didn’t show anything out of the ordinary. They said she was a very well taken care of baby and were just as stunned as we were.

The final report was that she had died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Nothing to do with her vaccines they said. But I was not convinced. And it turns out, they don’t even look into vaccines being the cause in a regular autopsy.

We had come to find out later that if wanted them to look into vaccines being the cause we would have needed to request a special autopsy to find out, and we would have had to pay out of our own pockets for it. But it was too late for that at that point nobody told us and she had already been cremated and come home with us.

She now sits in an angel inside of a clear glass box on our shelf. I wish I would have listened to my gut feeling, and not got her those shots.

I wish the public nurse would have told me more when I was asking questions. I wish they would have given me the vaccine inserts to view myself so I could have informed consent. I wish they would have listened to me when I told them something was wrong with her, I wish I had never gotten her those shots. I would still have my daughter today if I hadn’t held her down and let them vaccinate her.

We now have 2 more daughters completely unvaccinated, and healthier than ever. Our family doctor suggested we wait to vaccinate our other children. We decided not to at all.

My oldest now is 11 and has been on antibiotics once for a bladder infection from bubble bath. My youngest is 7 and she also has not been on any antibiotics, not even for an ear infection.. nothing.

SIDS is something they put a name to, to cover up the truth about babies and young children dying from vaccine injury. Do your research, its all out there you just have to dig for it.

Sincerely Jenny,
a forever grieving mother.”

Editor’s note: There has been a lot of research into Infanrix Hexa as having an association with SIDS. Even though most studies have found increased risk for SIDS, the vaccine is still routinely given. For example, a 2011 study found there was an increased risk for SIDS (double the risk) after the first dose, but denied to suggest there was a causal association. There has also been a documented increased risk for infants over 1 year of age. Read the confidential GSK report on Infanfix hexa:  confidentialGSKreport
