“I took Lauren to her 8 week well baby check up.

After her DTP shot she become inconsolable for many hours.

A day later she developed a low grade fever, runny nose, and wheezing, when she breathed. She started sleeping longer. We called the doctor’s office and the nurse said, “she’ll be okay, some babies just get like that.”

But she never got okay.

She degraded over the days until one morning when both my wife and I were at work our babysitter went to wake her up from her morning nap and found her blue and unresponsive.

In Virginia they treat a baby’s unexplained death as a homicide. A detective visited us to ask questions. That interview was misery upon agony.

Three days the Virginia ME summoned us to his office and said it was SIDS.

Since Lauren had her shots on the Navy Base, the ME wasn’t in possession of her Medical records.

Autopsy didn’t show injection marks because they were healed over.

The very first question he asked, and it still haunts me, was, “Did Lauren recently receive any vaccinations?”

We blubbered out yes and he gave me a very sad knowing look while gently nodding his head as he wrote something on a notepad.

He was an older man, his reaction has stayed with me for my whole life. He knew.”
