Newborn Dies 6 Hours After Vaccines; Parents Sue: Anna Sims’ Story
“My beautiful daughter was only alive for 10 weeks and 6 days. She was so healthy until she died 6 hours after receiving her vaccinations. My heart is aching constantly, but until recently, I have kept quiet.
If I dare mention that my daughter died 6 hours post vaccination, their first response is “but certainly you know that the vaccines didn’t cause her death, right?!” To which I uncomfortably explain that was the only possible cause of death as everything else was ruled out.
I have since found out that vaccine deaths are rarely reported to those vaccine safety studies the HHS and CDC are supposedly so thorough about.
My daughter, Anna, is not the only hidden statistic.
Vaccine manufacturers have NO liability for injuries or deaths caused by vaccines, we have all been told that vaccines are safe and effective, but inconvenient statistics are removed from their safety studies. The ethics violations are deadly.
I’m on the tail end of vaccine court. The special master ruled that I’m entitled to compensation in a table and off table death…however, her decision is being appealed by the DOJ so as to not shake the public confidence in the vaccine program.
I had a pediatric neuropathologist review her autopsy, and he found that she had died of vaccine injury due to encephalopathy.
It has been torture. The only reason I even went through vaccine court was to get answers I couldn’t get from the autopsy. My lawyers hired 2 experts to review her autopsy slides, and they confirmed my suspicions of it being a vaccine death. Her brain was heavy, and the cells were consistent with a heightened immune response because of the vaccinations she had received the same day that she died.
She died in 2013, I filed in vaccine court in 2015, and the special master decided in 2024 that her death was caused by vaccines, and that I’m entitled to compensation. That’s not the end unfortunately; the DOJ filed an appeal against her ruling…we are currently working on our rebuttal.”

What Role Does the VICP Play In Vaccine Injuries?
Many people who support vaccines believe that the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) exists to provide timely and fair support to families affected by severe vaccine injuries. Officially, the process is portrayed as relatively swift — with claims expected to resolve within 2 to 5 years.
However, in practice, the reality is often very different. Cases frequently take much longer to settle, especially those involving death or complex injuries. The Department of Justice, representing the government, often aggressively defends claims, prioritizing the protection of federal interests over the well-being of families. This adversarial approach can drag families through an appeals process that may stretch on for a decade or more.
In Abigail Sims’ case, she has been grieving the death of her beautiful Anna for 11 years, and her case with the VICP still has not been settled. She filed with the VICP within the 2 years of her daughter Anna’s death which is required by law, in 2015.
It took 9 years to get the decision by the Special Master, which was that “yes Anna died from encephalopathy,” which is a Table Injury. Then the DOJ appealed, even though this really is an open-shut case. Anna was healthy when she got the vaccines, no sign of any issue, but after the vaccines was upset at first, which is expected, and then drifted into a haziness followed by sleep soon after (which is also expected) but then could not be revived, even by the medical personnel. Anna died at the hospital.
The DOJ appealed the case on the grounds that Anna died only a few hours after receiving her vaccinations—too soon, they argued, to meet the 72-hour requirement for encephalopathy listed under the Vaccine Injury Table. Instead, they argue her death was due to SIDS, fully aware that the ambiguity surrounding SIDS has historically served as a loophole in denying compensation for post-vaccine infant deaths.
Anna died 6 hours after her first dose of Pediarix (a 5-in-one shot against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis b, polio), PedvaxHIB (hib), Prevnar (pneumococcal) and Rotateq (rotavirus).
Anna did not die of SIDS. The Medical Examiner did not classify her death as SIDS. Her pathology doesn’t align with known SIDS findings. She was not found deceased, as the majority of SIDS are sadly.
Anna developed encephalopathy within hours of the 2 month shots. Anna did not survive the encephalopathy, and died hours into the brain injury. A 2 month old infant has a semi-permeable blood-brain barrier. Inflammation can increase the porosity of this membrane, designed to protect the brain from neurotoxic chemicals and cells. But nothing is full-proof, and we are all different. It happened to her, and it can happen to any infant or child.
This is what the VICP is supposed to be for: to help the families who are harmed by vaccination. But the Table of Injuries is so limited, so specific, with narrow windows, thereby excluding most vaccine injuries, including SIDS, which tends to cluster around 2 weeks post-vaccination–that it demonstrates this specificity doesn’t serve Americans, doesn’t serve people who take vaccines–it only serves the pharmaceutical companies and the vested interests of the government.
The DOJ fights tooth and nail to deny any and all vaccine-related sequelae–not because the evidence is lacking, not because vaccines are safe and effective–but simply because they don’t want to fuel vaccine hesitancy. And that alone, should give us reason to question the system.
